2014 no-gi world champion AJ Agazarm has signed a contract with Bellator, according to a statement he made on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show.
Agazarm confirmed the news directly with the Jiu-Jitsu Times.
Known for being an accomplished and entertaining jiu-jitsu competitor, Agazarm has been hinting at a transition to MMA for a while now. He has posted photos indicating he’d been training with the Diaz brothers, and he’s been training at Wild Card Boxing as well.
Agazarm now joins a growing list of renowned BJJ athletes who have transitioned to MMA, including Mackenzie Dern, Garry Tonon, and Michelle Nicolini. Details of his contract with Bellator are currently unknown, but we can hopefully look forward to seeing him make his debut sometime in the near future.
