In 2017, Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Raphael Forti got into a motorcycle accident that nearly killed him, putting him in a wheelchair and taking him away from BJJ for months on end. Forti has been going through the recovery process, and at the end of last year, he posted a picture of himself standing without the aid of his wheelchair.
Posso dizer que 2017 foi bem diferente de todos que já vivi até hoje, e teria motivo de monte para reclamar, mas farei…
“I can say that 2017 was very different from all the others I’ve lived until today, and I’d have reason to complain, but I’ll do the opposite: I WILL BE GRATEFUL. Grateful for life, for maturity, for all the new friendships that I’ve gained (which weren’t only a few), for the current of prayers and positive messages that I received, and I wouldn’t know how many prayer groups, how many churches, how many cities came together to bless me, not forgetting how many lives were touched by knowing my story… I can’t describe everything I valued, but I can tell you that I close this year thanking God for everything.”
Earlier today, a video was posted of Forti being helped out of his wheelchair and onto the mats in an incredibly touching and inspiring moment:
Sinônimo de superação, Raphael Forti volta aos treinos após acidente de moto. Esse é o Coração de Campeão que eu tanto falo. #ForçaRapha
