AUSTIN, TX — January 24, 2017 — Today, FloSports, the innovator in live digital sports and original content, announced the official main card for Submission Underground 3 featuring Dillon Danis and AJ Agazarm as the headline fighters for the Jan. 29 live event in Portland, Oregon. The submission-only jiu-jitsu competition, co-presented by FloSports and Chael Sonnen, will be live streamed to an international audience exclusively on FloGrappling.com starting at 3:00 p.m. PST.
Headline fighter Dillon Danis is the world 2016 IBJJF No-Gi Pan Champion as well as a grappling coach, training partner and protege of top UFC fighter Conor McGregor. AJ Agazarm, known as “The Florida Boy,” is a BJJ staple and the 2014 World No-Gi Champion.
In addition to Danis vs. Agazarm, the submission-only matches pull from some of the world’s top jiu-jitsu competitors and will feature several match-ups starring up-and-coming prodigies, UFC stars, and grappling veterans. The Submission Underground 3 card includes:
- Garry Tonon vs. Chael Sonnen
- Gordon Ryan vs. Jeff Monson
- Jeff Glover vs. Chad Mendes
“I’m pumped to be on the card for this event,” Sonnen said. “We started Submission Underground with the goal to determine who the greatest grappler alive is. Now in its third event, we’re giving fans one of the best opportunities to see some of their favorite fighters face off in a submission-only format.”
“After the widely anticipated Jon Jones vs. Dan Henderson match-up during Submission Underground 2, we’re thrilled to announce these exciting submission-only match-ups,” FloSports co-founder and CEO Martin Floreani said. “Submission Underground 3 gives some of the best fighters the unique opportunity to demonstrate their grappling skills, and it will be exciting to see who comes out on top.”
Submission Underground 3, which will be hosted at the Roseland Theater in Portland, will use a cage instead of a grappling mat.
