Demi Lovato has been one of jiu-jitsu and MMA’s celebrity ambassadors for quite some time now, and she has never shied away from promoting either art in her interviews.
In a recent interview with SELF, Lovato said she likes to train in mixed martial arts because it keeps things exciting.
Sometimes I get really bored when I do just an hour of cardio, so sometimes I struggle with boredom (laughs). But that’s why I like to train MMA, because it keeps it exciting.
I used to work out too much, and then I stopped working out because I got burnt out on it. A few years ago I picked it up again with a trainer. I liked cycling, then I went from cycling to just strength training mixed with cardio, and then I found MMA.
Although she’s a fan of throwing fists, it appears Demi’s favorite workout still involves the gi and the ground. In an interview from two months ago, Lovato said her favorite workout was Brazilian jiu-jitsu:
My favorite workout is Jiu-Jitsu. I just have so much fun doing it, and there’s something about the strategy involved that kind of makes it like a chess game and keeps your brain occupied as well while you’re working out, so you never get bored.
