After an action-packed evening at F2W 151 that saw Kennedy Maciel defeat Osvaldo “Queixinho” Moizinho to become the black belt lightweight gi champion, Fight 2 Win has wasted no time in stacking yet another card in time for this weekend.
Fight 2 Win 152 will see the return of multiple superstar F2W veterans, including Edwin Najmi and Michael Liera Jr., who will face off in the main event for the welterweight gi title. Najmi has been a frequent attraction on the F2W stage this year, going 3-1 so far for 2020 and most recently defeating Queixinho at F2W 146.
Najmi’s matchup against Liera will be a particularly interesting one. Liera has a flawless record on the stage, currently maintaining a 6-0 record for the promotion. But the 2018 Pans champion has faced off with Najmi four times, beating Najmi in both of their matches as colored belts, though Najmi has defeated him twice at the black belt level. Still, that was four years ago, and a lot can change in that time. Will Najmi break Liera’s winning streak, or will Liera get his first black belt win against Najmi and retain the welterweight gi title in the process?
The co-main event will also be for a title, this time seeing Rafael “Formiga” Barbosa take on Alex Martins for the masters middleweight gi title. The match is a perfect fit for Martins, who has made a name for himself in the Masters circuit in the IBJJF for years, winning gold in the Master 2 division at Master Worlds in 2016. Formiga is also well acquainted (and well decorated) in the masters circuit, having stood at the top of the podium at Master Worlds in 2014, 2015, and 2018. These two are set to put on a show of technical mastery in a perfect choice for the co-main event.
Also on the card will be a match between Romulo Barral (who made his promotional debut at F2W 150 with a win over Tanner Rice in the main event) and Gabriel Almeida (who defeated Manuel Ribamar in the main event of F2W 149), which will take place at 200lbs in the gi. Johnny Tama will also be returning to the stage, this time against Johnatha Alves in another gi match.
As always, there many, many other matches to check out as well. Make sure you don’t miss a minute of the action!
Fight 2 Win 152 will take place on Friday, September 18 and can be streamed live on FloGrappling.
