UFC welterweight fighter Mike Perry was involved in an altercation that ended with him punching an older man in the face.
The incident, which was caught on video shared by Twitter user @MMAEejit, took place on Tuesday night at Table 82 in Lubbock, Texas, according to the initial report from TMZ. The incident reportedly began with a verbal altercation between Perry and a restaurant employee who had asked Perry to leave the establishment. Perry reportedly punched the staff member in the eye, at which point the video begins.
In the 43-second clip, Perry is seen angrily leaving the restaurant with a woman reported to be his girlfriend, Latory Gonzalez. As bystanders intervene and attempt to get him to continue on his way out, another argument breaks out between Perry and an older man. A scuffle ensues, and Perry lands a punch on the man, dropping him to the ground. Perry sits down and yells at bystanders to “call the police,” dropping the n-word multiple times and calling Gonzalez a “b*tch.”
TMZ reports that the cops arrived at the scene, but did not make any arrests. The man who was punched was said to be unconscious when the police arrived and was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries, but is experiencing memory problems and doesn’t remember the punch or the aftermath. A witness also told the police that Perry also struck a woman who was identified as a friend of Gonzalez during an altercation at his table at the restaurant, though it’s thus far unclear if the woman was seriously injured as a result.
Perry admitted to the police that he had struck multiple people, but says that he was trying to leave the restaurant peacefully and people were “putting hands on me as I was trying to leave the building.”
On Tuesday, Perry shared a number of vaguely dark tweets:
After the video and news began to spread, he shared another tweet that simply said, “No comment.”
