Watching creative submissions happen in BJJ matches is cool on its own, but it’s even cooler to see them happen in MMA fights where punching and kicking are also options.
Spectators were treated to a very unique submission finish in the main event of HFC 41, which took place in Indiana over the weekend. In the fight, Lucas Clay of St. Charles MMA (who received his BJJ purple belt last year) took on Craig Fruth and finished the bout with a “buggy choke” — the second time he’d ended a fight with that submission. It just goes to show that while the basics are often all you need to get the tap, a bit of creativity can also get you the win. Take a look!
